AVG internet security provides an impressive suite of tools to keep your computer secure, however it’s difficult to distinguish itself from other security software. The smart scan is great and checks for several issues, including unsafe browser extensions and insecure websites that could be used as gateways for malware. However, it falls short of rival products in other areas, such as finding fake websites that try to steal your information.

The software is easy to install and use official website with a simple interface that looks stunning on any device and works well regardless of whether or not you have a touchscreen or not. The five security features included with the complete package which include Computer, Web & Email, Hacker Attacks, Privacy and Payments are grouped together into simple categories on the main dashboard. These are further divided into sub-categories such as webcam protection and password protection.

You can upgrade to premium phone support or TuneUp tools for a small fee if you want extra features. There’s a version of the app with a VPN included for an additional fee.

Upselling is fairly aggressive and regardless of the plan you choose to go with, some features aren’t available unless you upgrade to a higher-tier product. For instance, if you opt for the free version of AVG Internet Security you’ll be urged to install Google Chrome and AVG SafePrice. Check the terms and conditions before downloading any software. You may end up having something that is not as powerful as you thought.
